Today I am thankful for:
The people at the MS center, being willing to share their stories with me, it amazes me how most them have such a positive attitude and outlook on life
The yummy quesidillas, black bean salad, and blueberry cobbler we had for lunch
Another beautiful day - I am starting to see more green than snow!
I learned how to make homemade soap
I found a book in the house that I haven't read yet! :o)

Things I am thankful for today:
My Client's wife who took pity on me when she realized that I hadn't had my coffee fix and sent me on a caribou run and bought me a breve vanilla latte and an light cranberry orange scone - it was very yummy, I will have to learn how to make the scone
My brother and sister n law who came and got my couch and are keeping it at their house until I can put the living room back together
I get to sleep tonight!
It isn't snowing - is it really snowing in Bemidji?
My new debit card came today - yay! (now I just have to wait for my pin # so I can use it)

Sunday, April 3rd
Today I am thankful for:
My job at Abbott
My heated blanket [yes still, even though I only use it on the first setting right now] :)
My car (I am scared of taking the bus late at night to Chicago ave)
That tonight is relatively quiet at work (knock on wood)
That I am getting a cool couch tomorrow
I am super tired this shift, definitely looking forward to not having to work tomorrow night, now to make it through my HH job tomorrow... I am fantasizing about how nice sleep would be right now, oh well, I'll make it :)
I slept through church today, oops! I think God will forgive me though - not sure why I am still so tired... I think maybe because I didn't take a nap before I came to work. maybe if I eat my salad it will perk me up.
I had to transfer from my posted station to ICU tonight, no one else would work it - I actually like it but it is definitely different from the other units.
Time to go get a room set up for an admit, the exciting parts of my job :)

So obviously I am not good at keeping up with my blog, I used to like to journal but now it just isn't something that I really take the time to do.
A lot is new since my last post, because of my health I quit both of my jobs for a month, it wasn't an easy decision for me but God has been faithful and I now have a job that I love so it worked out in the end thanks to my brother and sister in law who took me in during that time.
I am in the process of moving to Hopkins. I Would love to live on my own (I will have a roommate) but for now, this helps me save on the rent. My roommate works at a hospital as well, we actually hardly see each other and have been using the 'note (and text) system' for the majority of our communication. I work second and fourth weekends and she works first and third and since we both work at night, if we are home at the same time we are usually sleeping the day away :o)
I have decided that I am going to try and list 5 things that I am thankful for every day - we will see if any actually make it on here periodically - I will try - but I have said that before :P
This is something that I used to do when I was attending OCC and it seems to me that it really does help you focus on a more positive attitude, I know I still tend to focus on all the things going on that I doesn't feel are resolved or not in 'the place where I want to be' but if I look back even just a couple of months I can see how blessed I have really been.
I have to get ready to do the 2 am Glucs now, happy blogging :)

Tuesday, July 5th
So, collectively, by many different health care professionals I have been told that I need to start "regulating" my life and "take it easy" - whatever that means... sleeping and eating at normal times I guess and I am also suppose to increase my Sodium intake so I have to start adding more salt to my diet... along with wearing a heart monitor for a month...
Oh yea, for those of you who do not know I have been getting dizzy and fainting at random for the past two months now - I guess that's not normal ;D
So I have decided to do my best to put my self on a schedule, I have heard that it is easier to do when you blog about it so here goes (and I totally do not expect anyone to be on the edge of their seats or even read it but I will try to add some more interesting tid-bits just in case you do).
I didn't have my appointment until the after noon so I didn't start keeping track until after that.
Supper: Romaine/spinach salad w/grilled chk, raspberries, tsp rice vinegar, tsp. olive oil (for dressing) 1/4 c. croutons *200 Calories
Evening snack: yogurt with 3T Kashi Fiber One *120 Calories
Fluids: 32 oz power zero, 32 oz H2O * 0
Fitness activities: running errands, cleaned rabbit cage, work
Bedtime: 12:00 am
Total cal. intake: 320 (I wish!)
oh,yea, while I don't really care how much I weigh,I figure as long as i'm regulating things I want to go down two pant sizes :o)

Today,
Today I am bored because I am used to working in the afternoons
Today I am trying to catch up with some people on FB
Today I am cleaning
Today I am brushing up on my IV and Phlebotomy books
Today I am a little sore.. hoping my shoulder heals soon
Today I am thankful for the great people God has placed in my life
Today I am hopeful for my interview on Friday
Today I wish I was someplace a little more exciting
Today is today, and overall, it's been good.

Almighty God, the great I am
immovable rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome Lord
victorious Warrior commanding King of Kings, Mighty Conqueror
and the only time, the only time I ever saw Him run
is when He ran to me, took me in His arms
held my head to His chest, said "my son's come home again"
looked at my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
with forgiveness in His voice he said "son, do you know I still love you?"
it caught me by surprise, brought me to my knees when God ran
the day I left home, I knew I had broken His heart
I wondered then if things could ever be the same
then one night, I remembered His love for me
and down that dusty road ahead I could see
I saw Him run to me
it caught me by surprise
brought me to my knees
when God ran

Why do tragedies happen? * why do we sometimes have to endure pain? * why do 'bad things happen to good people'?
Why do we take the normality's of everyday life for granted? * Why do we berate and grumble about our friends and family just as much as we remember to be thankful for them? * why do we hate our job until we don't have work anymore? * Why do hurtful words come easier than those of healing? * why is it easier to judge than forgive? * why do we forget to look up at the sky with white puffy clouds floating by, the sun shining, birds singing, a slight breeze whispering through the trees, and take a breath of fresh air and thank God for the day? * why do we let ourselves get so caught up and stressed about such trivial things that we forget to see the little joys and beauty all around us every day?
Why?
why do we not appreciate our health until we are sick and in pain? * Why do we forget to be thankful for our freedom until we experience persecution? * Why do we see ourselves as better until we are broken? * why do we not say the words of love we feel until it is too late? * why do we not care about what we have until it is taken away? * why do we wait until we are face down before we remember to look up?
... do we really need to ask why?

Is it easier to live or die for Christ?
The last couple months Van has been doing series on "Uncommon Sense" Sunday mornings, from Mathew 5 - the B-attitudes, it has been very good I think :o) Last week was the last and it was on 'blessed are those who are persecuted for my sake for theirs is the kingdom...' while he was talking about how many Christians are killed because of their faith per day (I can't remember how many he said around 300 I think???, over half of them children) ... I was distracted, when he asked if you would die for Christ I was unsettled, because Yea, I honestly think If a gun was held to my head or etc. I still would not deny him... but I still was struggling with guilt from what had happened just a couple days prior..., and then he hit on it (isn't it weird how God does that?) are you living for Him?... many will not deny Christ in death, but do we deny Him by how we live... I can die for Christ... but why is it so hard for me to LIVE for him?I believe in Him , I don't mind telling anyone that, I like going to church, when I am alone or with my christian friends I can stay on track with no problem, but when I'm at work, I feel like my actions and attitude betray that... I struggle with being around friends who are non- christian and still being true to myself and God, I struggle with my attitude because I want to hang out with them and have fun and not stay alone and by myself but I always feel like I am walking such a fine line and tend to compromise my beliefs, whether it is by a slip of the tongue or laughing at something I shouldn't or even just not saying anything and being like 'hey, I'm really not comfortable with this conversation'... what do you say to someone who tells you 'oh I know I'm going to hell so I might as well live it up while I can...' I'm like what? how can you really believe in hell and still say that? How do you apologize to someone for slipping up when they already think that you are a better person than they are to begin with and don't see why you think that what you did was wrong? How do I explain that I hold myself to a higher standard without, well, how do you explain it? my musings for the week...
I am trying to decide what to do, I used to never go out with them, so they never asked, but then I've gone a few times, and they think I'm fun so they keep asking and for the most part I have had guilt free fun but is it worth the chance of tripping up? I mean I want to go to a persons birthday party next week -bowling in pj's ,sounds fun to me :o) (and it's free!)- but should I? I just don't know...

In a few moments, the day will arrive. It will roar down the track with the rising of the sun. The stillness of the dawn will be exchanged for the noise of the day. The calm of solitude will be replaced by the pounding of the human race. The refuge of the early morning will be invaded by decisions to be m
ade and deadlines to be met. For the next twelve hours I will be exposed to the day's demands. It is now I must make a choice. Because of Calvary, I'm free to choose. And so I choose:I CHOOSE LOVE
No occasion justifies hatred; no injustice warrants bitterness. I choose love. Today I will love God and what God loves.

I CHOOSE JOY
I will invite my God to be the God of circumstance. I will refuse the temptation to be cynical, the tool of the lazy thinker. I will refuse to see people as anything less than human beings, created by God. I will refuse to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God.

I CHOOSE PEACE
I will live forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live.
I CHOOSE PATIENCE
I will overlook the inconveniences of the world. Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I'll invite him to do so. Rather than complain that the wait is too long, I will thank God for a moment to pray. Instead of clenching my fist at new assignments, I will face them with joy and courage.
I CHOOS
E KINDNESSI will be kind to the poor, for t
hey are alone. I will be kind to the rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is how God has treated me.I CHOOSE GOODNESS
I will go without a dollar before I take a dishonest one. I will be overlooked before I will boast. I will confess before I will accuse. I choose goodness.
I CHOOSE FAITHFULNESS

Today I will keep my promises.
My debtors will not regret their trust. My associates will not question my word. My spouse will not question my love.

I CHOOSE GENTLENESS
Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my voice, may it be only in praise. If I clench my fist, may it only be in prayer. If I make a demand, may it only be of myself.

I CHOOSE SELF CONTROL
I am a spiritual being. After this body is dead, my spirit will soar. I refuse to let what will rot rule the eternal. I choose self-control. I will be drunk only by joy. I will be impassioned only by my faith. I will be influenced only by God. I will be taught only by Christ. I choose self-control.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. To these I commit my day. If I succeed, I will give thanks. If I fail, I will seek His grace. And then, when this day is done, I will place my head on my pillow and rest.

I miss my big, crazy, but fun and loving family! :o)
So I received some letters and pictures from my sister, Tracy, Jason, Emily, and Melissa and it made me soooooo homesick because I haven't seen them for so long - well I did see them enough to say hi and bye at the hayride :o) ... it is making me very excited for our Thanksgiving/Christmas time together... I think I am framing the pictures because I love them so much and am being very sentimental at the moment :D

The Church @ Peace
The 3 P's
When Life starts squeezing...
Acts 5 :27-42 Acts 16:16-28
?What is our response?
1. Praise - rejoice because we are counted worthy of our calling... thankful for suffering
Philippians 4:4 - rejoice in everything 11 Corinthians 6:10
- Choose your attitude!
Your internal attitude matters more than your external circumstances
- There are two types/groups of people:
a) worriers b) worshipers
2. Pray - don't be anxious
Philippians 4:6 Isaiah 26:3,4
Matthew 6:24-34 ... my mind is steadfast, I will trust in you - my mind is "stayed"
on you...
1Peter 5:7 - give your requests to God...
- You can't stop your worries from coming - But let them drive you to God...
3. Peace - the promise
Philippians 4:7
- the peace of God transcends , understands, will guard you heart and mind

a little bit of nothing
lol, so my last two posts sound rather similar but that is my life right now - work and school :o)
Qick Update
OK, lets see, what kind of catching up do I have???
I am now a nationally certified EMT -I do have to apply for my state license but that only requires filling out a form I can't seem to get my hands on...
I have been behaving myself for the most part health wise since my trip to the ER - yes, I know I have been yelled at for not making this known to more people in a timely fashion, I'm sorry to put a lull in the umm... what's happening with everyone ;P- it was simply a sinus infection, double ear infection, and a temp of 105.3 - I can't say that I bothered to look in the mirror but I must have looked pretty bad because I immediately got sent home from work and it's the fastest I have ever been admitted to the ER and all I did is walk in and say "I just don't feel very good" :o) but I am feeling just fime now... (after getting over the flue that the Bemidji people were so kind to give me)
Now most recently I am taking a phlebotomy class which is really fun - if anyone feels so inclined to lend their arm, veins, and blood I get extra credit for bringing people to stick :D
I am also going to be in school the next 4 Saturdays learning how to drive ambulances code 3 yeah!!, and then another class that I don't really remember what it is but was told by my EMS teacher that I will be bored to death so I guess I'm just looking forward to being done with it - at least it's only two days!
I am also thinking about taking a EKG class as I am looking to get a job as an ER Tech and it will be useful to already know how to be proficient at these things before I start...
All these classes are for a EMS certification and that will make me eligible to start Paramedic school...
I have been having fun with Jr, Worship, we are talking about "our creative God" so we have been doing some interesting crafts lately - I will have to try and get some pictures - last week was so fun - we did paper mache (is that how you spell it - it didn't correct me) and thankfully I put painting plastic on the floor because it got all over and poor Levi was slipping and sliding all over and then to keep himself from falling I ended up with a nice hand print on my backside :o)
That is the most I can think up for now... :D

School and more School
Wow, I haven't written on here for a while but I must say I have been rather busy... ;o)
I am just finishing up my EMT-B class and am taking my class written final exam tomorrow, I have my National Practical Skills test out on Wednesday over four stations:
Trauma, Medical, CAM (cardiac arrest management), and BVM ( bag, valve, mask - aka - airway management)
After passing those I am eligible to take my State/National boards so your prayers would greatly be appreciated
I had the wow factor of getting 90% and 92% on my practice boards (next to unheard of) but I still am not feeling that smart because my instructor put on a computer program in class that was a question and answer and a lot of the questions were the same - which is about the only reason why I did so well...
My instructor said that proved I was retaining knowledge and the questions on the board although not the same , will be similar so if I can keep a level head I should do fine - but it is still very nerve wracking :o)
I also signed up for ambulance operations this fall - a two week crash course on how to drive and operate an ambulance so I am looking forward to that- it sounds like fun ;D
As well as a phlebotomy class - that way I will have the option of working ambulance or working as an ER Tech.
another thing that I would like to add t0 my resume is a Wilderness Rescue Certification but I can't find any training programs around this area - or even in this state - but I'm sure there must be - especially around the Superior area/ St. Louis County (I think that includes the Boundary Waters as well???)
Does anyone know of any???
So ya, to sum it up at the moment I am working about 12 hours per day at my health care job, in school 6 hours Monday - Thursday, and work at the O.G. on Friday and Saturday afternoons - so that leaves me with homework and sleep - I have no idea why I'm not on here more :o)
